1770s English Mantua

Once upon a time, I made many of these dresses for theatre and historical associations that conducted re-enactments.  This one was my favourite.  It was created as part of a collection of basic costumes for a theatre school.  Sorry for the poor quality photos.  They are a few years old. Decoration of the stomacher included…

Restoration Project

The restoration of this 1947 dress was another labour of love.  It was made of blush pink bridal satin and decorated with beading and embroidery. The embroidery featured three different types of threads.  The most unusual thread was a blush pink plastic ribbon.  The second thread was a brass coloured knitted tube.  The third was…

Leathercraft Projects

If you’re interested in an amazing hobby, then leathercraft is it!  I love creating projects that are wearable or usable art.  I love this Egyptian inspired book bag.  I have to make another one.  A smaller version would be easier for me to carry when it’s loaded with books. White Silk Party Dress

Fabulous fabric from Peach Berserk inspired this style.  The skirt has many panels because I only had 1 metre of fabric (39 inches) of a narrow silk.  Trying to create a design with not enough fabric has become an unintentional area of expertise for me. Violet Roses Dress

This dress was a labour of love designed during the summer of 2009.  It didn’t come into existence until October 2010 for my sister’s wedding.  The roses were created using ruched pieces in a variation of quilting’s log cabin pattern and some extra petals.  Black feathered wig completed!  Modeled by Amanda. Everything starts as a…

Black Feathered Wig

As a fan of tedious work, I started creating a feather embellished wig.  It was supposed to be a part of an upcoming photo shoot, but was so pretty and fun it made it into photos before it was even completed.  Modeled by Amanda. (post originally published 2011)
